It takes just a few days for us to review your questionnaire, design and build your custom training plan. You receive a questionnaire after purchase so as soon as you fill it out and return it, we get to work ASAP on your plan.

Yes! That’s the key part of making the plan fully customized for you. From the questionnaire, we’ll learn your work, life, travel and race schedule and your plan will be built to sync with them.
After you order your plan, you’ll receive a link via email to download the athlete questionnaire. This form gives us details on your training and racing history, your short-term and long-term goals, your life schedule, tune up races, etc. It’s a thorough evaluation that allows us to design and build the perfect program for you. Once we receive the questionnaire back from you, we get started building your plan.
We build custom plans for any distance from 800 meters to the ultra-marathon. We also build plans for runners who are in between race plans and want to maintain their fitness and prepare for their next race-specific training cycle.
No. We’ll check in with you from time to time but if you want coaching, then check out the McMillan Run Team or McMillan personal online coaching.
You bet! We work with runners at the back, middle and front of the pack. Our only criteria is determination. If you are goal-oriented and determined to reach your goals then we’re here to help, no matter what your pace.
Should life get in the way and for whatever reason you are unable to complete the program you can always keep it and use it next time around. There are many examples of athletes who have had to cut a program short but then re-used it for their next training cycle and everything went great!
You bet!
Yes and no. We are happy to help multi-sport athletes with their running. However, we only help with your running. If you want a full program with all sports, then we recommend you work with a multi-sport specific coach. We will, of course, schedule the training taking into account your other activities but feel we aren’t qualified to provide cycling and swimming workouts.

Well, MCMILLAN RUNNING STRIKES AGAIN. I crushed my half marathon PR today at the Rochester Flower City Half Marathon. Came in at 1:23:06 for 15th overall and 3rd in my age group. That would mark just under a 7 minute improvement from my last half at Philly in the fall and a 13 minute improvement from when I ran Flower City Last year. Thank you McMillan! Now on to getting ready for a Boston Qualifier!
I am BLOWN AWAY by how much your plan helped me. Here are my results: 3:58:09, pace 9:05 average. My previous PR was 4:51:40 in 2011. I beat it by 53:31! Your advice kept me calm, and I worked on my speed during short runs, that was completely different than what I had done in the past. You really know what you’re doing. Here’s a picture of me, at the finish line, when I realized I was going to break 4 hours.
The program you tailored for me was awesome. It pushed me but just enough so I was still able to lead a fairly normal life, while progressing towards my goal. I GOT TO THE RACE SO WELL PREPARED that in retrospect it’s hard to imagine. While I trained in the past to peak for an athletic event, I am now confident that with proper training and time I can reach amazing goals.
This morning I ran a 3:48:16 marathon in Columbus, a PR by almost 12 minutes! I was training for sub 3:50 and I nailed it. My 3:48 finish was faster than I ever expected.
