Personal Online Coaching with Greg McMillan

As a competitive runner, you deserve the personal attention and expert training advice that even the world's best athletes receive. My goal is to provide individualized, expert coaching that helps you achieve your goals and learn more about yourself and the training process at the same time.

What You Get

With my online coaching program, you receive a complete package filled with great information and valuable training and racing tools. Once you sign up (below), you receive (via email) the Athlete Questionnaire which gathers detailed information on you, your training/racing history as well as your goals.

After returning the questionnaire, I perform a full and thorough evaluation of your training and racing history as well as your future goals. Next, I build your training plan. Using the training philosophy outlined on this site, your program gradually and progressively builds you into a complete runner - one ready for the challenges of all race distances as well as specifically prepared for your goal race(s). And, armed with your Questionnaire, the training plan is built specifically for you - taking into account your preferences with regard to long run and key workouts days, races, vacations, etc. On one Excel spreadsheet, you'll find the details for each and every day of the week throughout your program. No more guesswork on what to run. Just check today's date on the schedule. This schedule incorporates every single workout and you use the online Calculator to know exactly what pace to run. I also list the purpose for each workout as well as any special instructions or goals for workouts and races. The schedule is built for your primary goal of the training cycle and with your weekly feedback, is updated to reflect how your training is going. This worksheet is also adjusted for when "life happens" and you need to change things around.

Your Part

This is the important part. Online coaching is a two-way street. Just as I provide the training plan, I expect you to provide the feedback that will allow me to help you best. Throughout the program, I expect (and rely upon) consistent feedback (weekly or bi-weekly) via e-mail or phone. Let me know the results of each key workout, race, any problems with the training, upcoming vacations, family commitments, etc. This allows me to make any necessary adjustments to the training schedule. After all, the schedule you receive is not set in stone but is a work in progress. It is modified continually based on your feedback and with the results of each workout and race so it is your responsibility to keep me updated on how the training is going.

Unlike other coaching programs, I don't limit the number of calls or e-mails from athletes. I wholeheartedly welcome and encourage your feedback as often as necessary, especially in the early part of the training schedule. Ask all your questions. Let me know how things are going - both physically and mentally. You are the only one who truly knows your body so I rely on your feedback to keep your program on the fast track to success.

Cost

The cost for the personal coaching program is $125 to $200 per month depending on the length of commitment. This rate includes the complete package described above as well as unlimited contact via phone and email. There are no limits on personal contact nor are there varying levels of service/benefits (i.e., gold, silver, bronze programs). All athletes receive the same level of service.
