Sample Custom Training Program

Each program is fully customized based on your particular situation. The sample program below provides only an idea of the type of information contained in your program. The actual training will undoubtedly vary from this sample as I'll create the program to match your needs. As you'll see, the level of detail and instruction sure beats a generic training program!

Below is a week in our sample runner's marathon training plan. He typically runs 5-6 days per week totally between 35 and 45 miles per week on average.

Q: How long before I receive my new program?
A: It usually takes about 5 business days to review your Athlete Questionnaire and design and build your program.

Q: What if my race is more than 12 weeks away?
A: No problem. There are also 16, 20 and 24 week programs available. I can also do any number of weeks you need. Email me to discuss your particular situation.

Q: What is the difference between the Custom Training Program and your Online Coaching Program?
A: The Custom Training Program service is designed for runners who don't need a coach but would like a plan designed just for them instead of a generic training plan. With this program, there is no access to coaching. The Online Coaching Program is designed for athletes who want interaction with a coach.

Q: How is my program delivered to me?
A: You'll receive an Excel spreadsheet or a PDF file containing your program.

Q: Why are you offering this program?
A: McMillan Running's mission is to help runners. This program is one more way to fulfill this mission. I realize that not everyone needs the personalized interaction of an online coach but all runners need a smart training plan. This program is now available so that they, too, can succeed just like the personal coaching athletes do.

Q: I'm a beginning runner, is this for me?
A: Yes! The program I've designed for beginning runners provides a smart and safe way to increase your fitness, lose weight and build yourself into a complete runner. And, we have a lot of fun in the process!
